{"id":394,"date":"2022-04-22T17:38:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T16:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/finseta.com\/?p=394"},"modified":"2024-04-09T09:27:02","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T08:27:02","slug":"the-friday-update-apr-22-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/finseta.com\/ca-en\/the-friday-update-apr-22-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"UK inflation hits 7%"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s been a while since the last update due to the long Easter Bank Holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the last two weeks we\u2019ve not seen much good news on the economic front.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around the world inflation has continued to rise, the cost of living has increased and the war in Ukraine has continued to rage on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the UK we saw a 0.7% rise in prices now taking inflation to 7%!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also saw figures suggesting that this year the UK would have the slowest growth out of the G7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/finseta.com\/knowledge-hub\/currencies\/pound-sterling\/\">Pound<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/finseta.com\/knowledge-hub\/currencies\/us-dollar\/\">Dollar<\/a> has continued pushing the 41.30 barrier and at the time of writing has broken it once again. Experts expect it to permanently drop below $1.30 very soon. Against the <a href=\"https:\/\/finseta.com\/knowledge-hub\/currencies\/euro\/\">Euro<\/a>, the rate has remained relatively stable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further afield, the <a href=\"https:\/\/finseta.com\/knowledge-hub\/currencies\/japanese-yen\/\">Japanese Yen<\/a> has been having a pretty bad time. We saw this week it drop to a 20 year low against the dollar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Europe is on tenterhooks this weekend due to Sunday\u2019s Presidential election in <a href=\"https:\/\/finseta.com\/knowledge-hub\/country-profiles\/france\/\">France<\/a>. Polls show Macron ahead by as many as 10 points, however there are fears in various markets of what a Le Pen win could mean. A Macron win would keep the markets stable, a Le Pen win would see an economic shockwave akin to Brexit take place.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some pleasant news to round off the week, David Attenborough was recently named \u2018Champion of Earth\u2019 by the UN.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been a while since the last update due to the long Easter Bank Holiday.
